Is it time to book your visit to the dentist?

New Year’s Day has come and gone and if you’re like me you might have spent a few minutes on the 1st day of 2024, thinking about the year ahead. You may have set yourself some new goals that you’d want to achieve this year, like going to the gym more regularly, or setting yourself a savings target, or maybe something as simple as going to bed earlier to get a better night’s sleep.

Whatever your goals are for 2024, I really do hope you’re on track and if you’re not, it’s still early in the year so there’s still plenty of time. So, don’t give up just yet!

It’s very common as a dentist for someone to come in for the first time, who hasn’t had the chance to visit a dentist for a few years. They tell me that they want to get back into the routine and be regular at the dentist again because it’s time to take control and take responsibility for the health of their teeth.

For others, maybe they haven’t seen the dentist since they were a teenager and now is the time to start and they want to avoid any type of dental emergency.

Australian research shows that two-thirds of adult Australians have not been to the dentist in the past 12 months. One of the reasons is because of dental anxiety. However, the fear of the unknown is probably worst.

I’m so proud as a dentist when people who hate coming to the dentist or just want to be “more of an adult”, come in to see me, because I know they’ve taken a huge first step. I’m here, as your dentist, to empower you to take control of your oral health.

If one of your goals for 2024 is to start coming to the dentist, or you’re overdue for that regular check-up, we’re only in March so make that appointment now.

Until then, Keep Smiling
