The month of October is special at Northvale Dental because it was on the 10th day of this month in the year 2020 that we opened our doors. This makes it our 5th birthday this year, and what a milestone it is for the practice and for our team.
So what does the future of dentistry look like in the year 2025…
Going to the dentist may not be your favourite thing to do, but we all know how crucial our oral health is and how strongly it is connected to our overall health. But the world keeps finding new solutions and approaches to many things including dentistry.
Here are some of the latest technologies that may shape the future of dentistry:
-
Like many other areas, artificial intelligence (AI) will change the face of dentistry and in a way it is already here. AI is getting involved with diagnosis, treatment planning and clinical decision making. AI is also getting involved with the daily operations of our practice whether we like it or not.
-
Computer-assisted design (CAD) and computer-assisted manufacture (CAM), including 3D-printing, are well tested and tried in dentistry today. At Northvale Dental, we offer same day crowns using our CAD-CAM technology.
-
What’s sounding crazy at the moment is that there is research in regenerative dentistry! If this technology, where we can regrow teeth in the lab to replace lost teeth becomes successful this will certainly revolutionise treatment options we can offer.
But as a dentist reading about these new advancements in dentistry that aims to offer better care for patients, I can’t help but think about the importance of sticking to the basics in dental health, which is something I stressed to all my patients. My goal as your dentist is to ensure you have healthy teeth and gums so that if complex dentistry is required your chances of treatment success is high.
As your dental professional, my role is to understand the new developments in dental health care and bring to you what I believe will be best for all our patients. But there is so much information readily available to the general public out there, so if you read about, or watch about some new crazy dental thing online, or hear it from your friends, make sure you ask our team at your next dental appointment.
It’s always best to get the right information from a trusted source, and that’s me, Dr Safinah.
