When you walk into your dental hygiene appointment, you’re probably thinking about a clean smile and fresh breath. But behind those simple outcomes lies a detailed process aimed at maintaining your oral health and preventing future problems.

At Northvale Dental, we aim to make your dental hygiene appointment as comfortable and effective as possible.

As an oral health therapist, I work closely with patients to deliver care that goes beyond just cleaning teeth, it’s about education, prevention, and personalised treatment.

My role is to ensure your teeth and gums are thoroughly cleaned while providing a relaxed, welcoming experience.

When you visit, expect a friendly environment where we take the time to explain each step of the process.

Your appointment will typically begin with a conversation about your oral care routine, followed by a gentle examination of your teeth and gums. I’ll check for any signs of gum disease, cavities, or other oral health concerns. The hygiene aspect will involve the use of various tools, including our latest addition, the Airflow system. This advanced technology uses a fine spray of air, powder, and warm water to gently remove plaque and surface stains from your teeth. The Airflow system is a highly effective alternative to traditional scale, clean and polishing methods, and it’s especially useful for sensitive areas. It’s quick, non invasive, and often more comfortable for patients.

Throughout the appointment, I’ll regularly check in to make sure you’re feeling at ease. If you have any questions or concerns about your oral health, I’m happy to address them. By the end of your visit, your teeth will feel smooth and fresh, and you’ll have a better understanding of how to maintain a healthy smile both in and out of the clinic.

Ultimately, my goal is not only to clean your teeth but to empower you with the knowledge to care for your oral health. Regular visits are essential to preventing future issues, and as your oral health therapist, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Whether it's tips on brushing technique, flossing, or recommendations for the best oral care products, I’m here to help you create a routine that keeps your smile healthy between visits.
